New Hampshire Worker Wins $50,000 Maryland Lottery Prize During Work Trip
A casual casino player from New Hampshire recently struck it lucky while visiting Maryland for work, winning a five-figure prize from the Maryland Lottery’s Let’s Make a Deal scratch-off game.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, was traveling with his work crew when a quick stop for snacks turned into a $50,000 payday. Stopping at the Sheetz convenience store on Pulaski Highway in Joppa, Maryland, the man purchased two $5 Let’s Make a Deal tickets along with hot dogs.
The purchase wasn’t random. Moments earlier, while chatting with his colleagues, one joked, “Could you imagine if one of us won the lottery?” The man’s decision to buy two tickets paid off when one turned out to be a top prize winner.
The retailer who sold the ticket will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
After claiming his prize at Lottery headquarters, the winner shared that, once back in New Hampshire, he plans to consult with his father—whom he describes as a “money guy”—before spending the winnings. However, he did admit he might treat himself to a new fishing rod.

Each Let’s Make a Deal ticket costs $5 and offers a 1 in 3.97 chance of winning any prize. The game, introduced late last month, features prizes ranging from $5 up to $50,000.
Following this latest top prize win, four $50,000 prizes remain unclaimed. Additionally, there are:
-
10 prizes of $5,000
-
28 prizes of $1,000
-
Numerous smaller prizes ranging from $5 to $500
Players hoping to win big still have plenty of opportunities with this popular scratch-off game.
